Colin Cartwright

Musician And Composer

Colin grew up in Port Sunlight, Birkenhead and sang as a boy chorister in the Parish Church of St. Mary. He studied piano and singing at the Royal Manchester College of Music which later became the Royal Northern College of Music. He played the role of Oberon in Benjamin Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream and he also sang in the BBC Northern Singers.

In 1975, he was appointed as a member of the choir of the Royal Chapel of St. George. He has made several tours of the USA and sung at a memorial service for the victims of 9/11 in New York. He sang as a soloist for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's 70th birthday concert, and also at the marriage of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. 

Colin also received the award of the Golden Spurs for his work with a girls' choir in Belgium. In 2006, he was awarded the Royal Victorian Order by Her Majesty the Queen for services to music.
